York is a wonderful boy out of the Brody x Daisy litter. His biggest accomplishment to date has been his Best in Sweepstakes win at the 2006 Havanese National Specialty. Competing against over 70 of the most outstanding young Havanese from across the U.S., York won his competitive 6-9 month puppy class and moved on to the final competition for Best in Sweeps. We knew the competition was tough as York was only a 9 month only pup competing against other young Havanese many of whom had already finished their AKC championships and who had gone on to group placements as well. Juding the sweepstakes was Jack Norton, who carefully examined each of his final choices closely. He pulled out two dogs for his final cut...a lovely boy who was much older, a finished champion and group placer and....our York. After having them both gait twice around the ring while the audience applauded for them, judge Norton had them both freestack in the middle of the ring for his review one last time. Much to our suprise, our young puppy loved the attention and freestacked like a champ! When the judge pointed to him as the winner, we were thrilled!
York is everything we could want in a Havanese. His breed type tells you he is a Havanese from across the ring with a lovely profile, nice topline, lovely expression with almond eyes and a springy, flashy gait. To know York is to love him, as he is such a sweet boy and so very smart.
He will live with our dear friend Netta DuPlanti who will train him to use that brain of his in the performance sports of Rally and Obedience. We can't wait to see what is next for this lovely boy!
