As
soon as I saw Tess in our first litter, I knew she was special. I certainly
haven't been disappointed! She was born as a beautiful golden brindle,
faded out to a more champagne brindle color and is now starting to regain
some of her darkness in a shade I would almost describe as mahogany brown.
The color changes are one of the unique "quirks" that come along
with the Havanese breed and I find it fascinating!
Tess
loves the showring and finished with all majors just a few weeks after
her 9 month birthday. She has a drop dead gorgeous coat and movement to
die for. Her reach and drive make her a joy to watch as she gaits around
the ring. Her dark 
pigment and mischievous face compliment her other features
which all add up to epitomize breed type for the Havanese.
Around the house, Tess thinks she is "alpha". She loves to lay at the top of my head on the pillow and will growl down any other dogs who come near. Her handler, Lois Demers, calls Tess a "pillow hog" and I wholeheartedly agree. Tess is an extremely sociable girl though and loves to kiss and snuggle. Our youngest son, John, claims that Tess is "his" dog and loves to give her belly rubs, which Tess willingly accepts. When he is ringside he whispers in her ear before she goes in that he will be waiting to rub her belly when she returns!
The two Havanese pictured above and to the right are two of the award winning Havanese that Tess produced in her previous litter with Brody, Multi-Ch. Elfin Snowhite Startin' Over, ROM. Brody was a wonderful sire and together with our Tess, they made some outstanding pups. We plan to repeat this breeding in the near future. If this litter gives us anywhere near the same quality as the previous breeding between Brody and Tess, we are looking for the right show potential homes who can either owner handle these pups or who can hire a handler provide these pups with the exposure they deserve in the show ring. . Both Bailey and Sky finished from the puppy classes and Sky has gone on to reach #12 in all breed points so far with very selective showing. He can hold his own with the other top 20 Havanese, when in a large show recently he consistently finished Best of Opposite to the #1 ranked Havanese and while taking BOS over specials ranked in the top 10 of our breed.He has had multiple group placements at the age of under a year also. We're anticipating great things from the pups in our next litter as well!
