Bravo was the second Havanese to join us here at Tejano Havanese. He came to us from Jerome and Zsuzsanna Podell. Bravo has been a a delight to own and show. He was expertly handled by Barbara Beissel and finished his championship a few weeks after his nine month birthday.
How
would I describe Bravo? Totally devoted! He is always by my side and looks
up lovingly with those big, brown eyes. Although Bravo would do anything
in the world to protect our family, underneath that brave facade, he is
really well, er, let's just say "less than brave". It is so
funny to watch him around puppies - he is terrified of them! Perhaps that's
because he is outnumbered, or maybe it is because they love to pester
him and he would never do anything to harm them. Either way, he avoids
puppies like the plague! Once they are about 4 months old, Bravo seems
to realize that they are normal Havanese like him and accepts them into
the pack.
Our cat, Marie, is Bravo's favorite buddy and he will groom her face while she patiently accepts his attention. When she has had enough, she jumps to a high perch, leaving Bravo with a puzzled look on his face. Bravo loves to "talk" and tries his best to communicate with a series of expressive sounds. When I tell him ""Bravo, I love you" he often will reply with what sounds like "I love you too" in Scooby-Doo talk! Regardless of what he's trying to communicate, he is awfully funny!
Bravo is now our neutered pet and is enjoying his new life of leisure. His favorite game now is to jump onto the raft in the pool with our boys and go swimming. Sounds like a great way to handle the hot Houston summers!
